Rosenfeld & Kaplan has extensive experience defending financial-industry managers and others in a variety of matters.

We acted as defense counsel to the management of two high profile feeder-funds that were named as defendants in multiple Madoff-related litigations. The clients were the managing members of two hedge funds that had approximately $800 million in Madoff-related investments. This representation entailed, among other things, the defense of multiple civil class actions and derivative investor claims, as well as professional malpractice claims against a law firm in which managers of one of the funds were principals. During that representation, we obtained dismissal of two of the principal actions in their entirety (one in federal court and the other in state court), as well as the dismissal of significant aspects of the principal consolidated federal action. There were numerous accounting firms and accounting issues that arose in the Madoff matters concerning our clients, and we continue to represent one of our clients in the remaining claims being asserted against the accounting firms that represented the Madoff Funds.
